The best rice cooker review

This article will discuss choosing a new rice cooker. What things do we want to look for and be aware of when we are shopping for one of these devices?

I have been living in Japan for a while now so know quite a bit about these machines. Rice is a staple food of this country and as such nearly every single household in the country has a rice cooking machine. So if you want to know what the best rice cooker is you would be well advised to ask a Japanese person.

The electronics manufacturing industry in Japan is huge. There are numerous companies that have gone global from a Japanese base. Some of the firms that produce rice cookers these days include Sanyo, Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi, Tiger and Zojirushi. All these firms are well known throughout Japan and many of you will have heard of them before.

What you may not know is that Zojirushi are the market leader when it comes to sales of rice cookers. Currently they offer a range of models designed specifically for the North American market. Machines we can buy in Japan are not available in the U.S. and Canada and the reverse is also true. The reasons for this are that in Japan the machines all have Japanese buttons while in North America they are in English.

One thing is clear though, if you want a cheap Japanese rice cooker then the place to be is Japan. There is a definite mark up on models that are sold outside Japan. The same is unfortunately true of electronics made outside Japan. For me they are really expensive. In particular I am thinking about a Breville juicer that I want to buy. The price is almost double for me! But as far as rice cookers are concerned, I am on the right side of the Pacific.
